The Liberty Seated Dollar was minted from 1840 to 1873 with the 1846 coin being the first year of a branch mint dollar.
Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse features a seated Liberty, holding a pole with the Liberty cap in her left hand while her right hand rests on a shield. Meanwhile the reverse features a bald eagle, arrows and olive branch clutched in its talons.
