Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse features a seated Liberty, clutching a pole with the liberty cap perched on top. In her right hand is a shield. The word "Liberty" across the shield is almost fully visible, with weakness in the B and E.
The reverse depicts an eagle perched on a branch. It's clutching arrows in its talons.
