This coin was designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy Half Dollar, first released in 1964, only a few short months after John F. Kennedy's untimely death.
Designed by Gilroy Roberts and Frank Gasparro, the obverse depicts the profile of John F Kennedy, meanwhile the reverse features the heraldic eagle clutching both olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons.
